This time I will discuss a lipstick that I wanted to try since it was launched, but never had a chance to get. But because I review lipsticks (well, just started) I now have excuses to get more lipsticks and test them.
The lipstick I am talking about is Pure Color Envy Matte Sculpting Lipstick by Estée Lauder. As it clear from the name, it is a matte version from Estée Lauder famous Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick, which has many different versions to choose from.
Estée Lauder claims that Pure Color Envy Matte gives a creme matte finish. Lips do not feel dry, but smooth and soft. It promises to glide on effortlessly and give full coverage in one stroke. It packed in a standard EL dark blue case with a magnetic cap.
I chose to review a nice a luxury-looking blue-toned red shade 330 – Decisive Poppy. I like to wear red shades on my lips and based on the experience matte lipsticks provide better red shades and deeper tones.
As you can see from swatches comparison below, Decisive Poppy has some similarities with Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil (Mysterious Red), Darker than Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet (56 Rouge Charnel) and much lighter than L’Oreal x Balmain (Domination) (all shades are matte to have a better comparison).
This lipstick does give a full coverage easily, however, I found that it does not glides on effortlessly. I found it quite hard and slightly dry to ‘glide’. Maybe it because I have lip lines, do not know. At first, it gives some little shine to it, but after turns into a matte lipstick completely.
Despite it is quite dry, it does not dry out lips. It stayed a really long time without any reapplying during the day. However, I found that it was hard to do little touch up. Usually I close and move my lips to spread the lipstick if it fades into my lip lines. Because this lipstick is quite dry, my lips stacked and could not move. If I could move them, the lipstick started to crumble little bit. It means that it is better to touch up with you fingers.
Overall, I like this lipstick. The shade I got is amazing. Really nice deep red color. There are some issues with a lipstick being quite dry and not gliding as it claims. Means, you better to moisturize your lips in order to have nice application. However, there are quite small issues, because it stays really strong all day. I might have it as a replacement for a similar color from Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil – Mysterious Red as it is a lip pencil that you need to sharp manually and I personally do not like to make 1000 steps before applying it.
You can shop the range from the Estée Lauder Official website (27.00 GBP each)
